In therapy, I will provide you with a safe place to express and care for the parts of you that are fearful, grief-stricken, and angry. I will remind you of your strengths. I will challenge your tenacity. I will listen for what you might be missing in your story of yourself. I'll support you in identifying what you need to experience deeper, more meaningful engagement in your life, and I'll offer tools to help you embody that self-knowledge in creative, powerful new ways.
Sometimes that work begins with a deep exploration of how past experiences and relationships hinder you now from acting skillfully toward what you want. Sometimes it requires facing painful realities in your life that can’t be fixed or changed, and summoning the courage and compassion to grieve the losses fully, to forgive, and to move forward. And always it involves learning to trust your own wisdom and creativity. My goal, always, is to support you in living a life consistent with your deepest intentions, needs, and values. I may use specific techniques to move you out of a story and deeper into your psyche, but, in general, I endeavor to create a space of open awareness to whatever arises. And I invite you to attend to your experience with curiosity, kindness, honesty, and creativity. It's from that place, I believe, that therapy can be truly transformative.
